We explore the wine lifestyle the way people actually experience it: choosing a bottle for a friend, deciding whether to join a wine club, figuring out what to drink with dinner, discovering a great wine lounge close to home, planning a trip through wine country, or simply trying something new.

LTGL is for the wine-curious, the longtime wine lover and everyone in between. You don't need to know every grape, appellation or vintage to have a meaningful wine experience.

We believe wine becomes more enjoyable when you have enough information to feel confident without feeling as though you need a degree in wine to participate. We'll explain what matters, introduce you to things worth discovering and help you understand the “why” when it's useful.

Your wine journey is unique to you. We're here to help you enjoy it.

You'll find stories about wineries, winemakers, growers and the people who make wine culture interesting; wine and food experiences; travel and itineraries; events; wine lounges and tasting rooms; discoveries from wine regions around the country and around the world; and practical tools designed to solve some of the questions wine lovers encounter every day.

Our growing collection of LTGL tools includes the Bottle Finder, which helps you choose a bottle for yourself or someone else; the Food + Wine Pairing Tool, which helps you figure out what to pour with what you're eating; and the Wine Club Fit Tool, which helps you decide whether that tempting wine-club membership really fits your life.

Sometimes we'll help you learn something. Sometimes we'll help you decide something. And sometimes we just want to give you a good reason to pour a glass and discover somewhere new.

Knowing a lot about wine doesn't mean you always know what to buy, what to pair with dinner, or whether another wine-club membership is a good idea.

Our tools aren't tests of wine knowledge, and they aren't designed to tell you what you're supposed to like. They're meant to help you think through a choice, discover possibilities and understand why a particular direction might be worth exploring.

Use what helps. Ignore what doesn't. And always trust your own palate.

That's not really our thing.

Wine is personal. The bottle one person loves may leave someone else completely unmoved. Rather than assigning scores or declaring a wine “the best,” we're more interested in helping you understand why a wine, region or style might be right for a particular person, meal, moment or experience.

We'll certainly tell you about wines we enjoy and discoveries we think are worth sharing. But we'd much rather help you develop the confidence to decide what you enjoy.

How does the LTGL Bottle Finder Work?

Tell us what you know, and we'll help you figure out where to start.

You can use the Bottle Finder when you're shopping for someone else or choosing something for yourself, whether you want a bottle to enjoy now, something for your collection, or a wine for your cellar.

The tool uses the information you provide about wine preferences, flavors, occasion, budget and other clues to suggest styles and regions worth exploring. More importantly, it explains why we're pointing you in that direction and gives you practical shopping guidance so you can walk into a wine shop or wine aisle with greater confidence.

The recommendations are starting points, not guarantees. Part of the fun is discovering something you didn't already know you liked.

We start with a simple idea: pair to the part of the plate that has the biggest flavor personality.

That may be the protein, but often it's the sauce, seasoning, preparation or another dominant flavor that really determines what will work in your glass.

The Food + Wine Pairing Tool uses what you tell us about the dish to suggest wines worth considering and, importantly, explain why they might work. Pairing guidelines can help you explore, but they aren't rules.

The best pairing is still the wine you enjoy drinking.

Wherever wine takes us.

LTGL began in California wine country, but the Grape Life was never meant to stop at Napa or Sonoma. We've explored wine throughout California and across the United States, as well as internationally in places including France and Italy, and we'll continue following wine to new destinations.

We're just as interested in discovering an unexpected local tasting room, urban wine lounge or emerging wine region as we are in visiting one of the world's legendary wine destinations.

Because sometimes wine country is thousands of miles away. And sometimes it's seven minutes from home.

Definitely not.

Vineyards and wineries are wonderful parts of the wine lifestyle, but they're only part of it.

The Grape Life also happens at wine bars and lounges, urban tasting rooms, restaurants, bottle shops, dinner tables, festivals, neighborhood events and anywhere people gather and share a bottle of their favorite wine or wine related experience.

You don't have to pack a suitcase to live your Grape Life. 

TooCUTErie is the food-and-gathering side of the Grape Life, bringing together wine, the art of charcuterie and the simple pleasure of sharing something delicious around a table.

TooCUTErie experiences can be created for private gatherings, corporate events, winery experiences and other occasions where food, wine and connection belong together.

Because sometimes the best thing about the bottle is what happens around it.

LTGL works with wineries and wine-related businesses on marketing, audience development, storytelling and consumer engagement, with a particular interest in helping businesses connect with the people they want to reach in ways that feel useful, inviting and authentic.

We also welcome opportunities to explore wineries, tasting rooms, wine lounges, destinations, events and other experiences that may be a good fit for the LTGL community.

Not currently.

We introduce wines, wineries, regions and styles we think are worth discovering, but LTGL does not currently sell wine through the website. When possible, we'll help point you toward the winery, producer or another place where you can find what we've featured.

And if that changes someday, we'll let you know.

Our founder, Greer McVay, has her own wine label, Envie, McVay Family Vineyards, produced in partnership with a Napa Valley winemaker and bottled under the Envie brand.

We're working on making it easier for the LTGL community to discover and purchase Envie, with wine sales, fulfillment and shipping handled by our licensed winery partner.

In the meantime, we'll continue introducing you to wines, wineries and producers we think are worth discovering.

Try one of the tools. Visit a winery you've never been to. Stop into that wine lounge you've driven past a dozen times. Order a grape you can't pronounce. Tell us about the bottle you discovered on vacation. Share the pairing that surprised you. Join us at an event. Follow along on social media. And share your own discoveries with the community.
